NEWS ROUNDUP: Right to Food & Mersey Gateway
Nine Merseyside areas have seen coronavirus cases drop by more than two thirds in a week. It comes as the speed of the fall in infections region-wide appears to be slowing slightly and has even stalled in some areas. However, the latest daily update from the NHS shows that all of Merseyside's boroughs except for Wirral continue to record falls in infection that are higher than the England average.
Metro Mayor Steve Rotheram is backing the 'Right to Food' campaign. Launched by Fans Supporting Foodbanks, it calls for a change in the law to make access to food a legal right for all in the UK. He's written to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.
At £2 The Mersey Gateway is the third most expensive toll route in the country a new survey has found. Figures compiled by comparison website GoCompare show only the Dartford Crossing in London and the M6 Toll Road costs more.
