Merseytravel have apologised after a delay in re-opening the Birkenhead tunnel. They say the work is much greater than initially envisaged though it is expected that it will re-open at some point this week.
Wirral's covid case numbers have dipped below 300 for the first time since December 14. In the week up to February 25, the borough recorded 294 cases at a rate of 91 per 100,000. That is a fall from 379 cases at a rate of 117 per 100,000 registered the week before.
Formby politicians are calling for change after an influx of day-trippers meant local residents were "trapped in their own homes" this weekend. Some sun-seekers had travelled as far as from Leeds and Stockport to Formby beach, in blatant breaches of current lockdown restrictions. Lines of double-parked cars meant many of the village's roads were effectively one-way only, with many frustrated home-owners unable to go out.
