Liverpool's two largest opposition parties have both called for a slew of Labour councillors to resign after it was confirmed government commissioners would be sent to the city. Secretary of State for housing, communities and local government Robert Jenrick confirmed the move after a bombshell report r highlighted numerous failures of governance at the council.
Fifteen areas of the Liverpool City Region still have coronavirus rates above 100 cases per 100,000 people less than a week before instructions to stay at home end. While four of the six boroughs in the region now have a borough-wide coronavirus rate of less than 50 cases per 100,000.
Ambulance crews in Merseyside are set to be equipped with body worn video cameras in a bid to reduce violence against frontline staff. North West Ambulance Service will be rolling out the cameras, starting in areas that see the highest number of incidents of abuse against staff.
