Liverpool Council's auditors have defended their work and claims they 'dismissed concerns' after a damning government report found the council was not providing the best value for money to council taxpayers. The report found a litany of failings across specific areas of the council, including regeneration, planning and property management.
Homes are set to be built at a former House of Fraser site, after the council bought it last year. Birkenhead's House of Fraser store, on Grange Road, closed last March but on December 21 the £2m purchase of the building was agreed to by Wirral Council's policy and resources committee.
A brand new mural which celebrates Liverpool's Chinese community is taking pride of place in the city centre. Located in Chinatown's Great George's Square, the 50-metre wide and two-metre high spray-painted artwork is a striking red, yellow and blue mural, featuring an ox to mark the lunar New Year.
