New legislation designed to tackle domestic abuse and violence against women and girls is being welcomed in Liverpool. Nine Liverpool residents have lost their lives to domestic abuse in the last year and requests for support services have risen by a fifth.
A series of modifications are being made to allow for better infection control against Covid-19 at polling stations during the upcoming elections. These include additional cleaning of polling station and the use of protective screens between staff and electors. Anyone going to vote at a polling station must wear a mask unless they are exempt.
Huge plans for Birkenhead, which promise to deliver hundreds of homes, a brand new market and many more green spaces have been approved. Under the proposal, Wirral Council will occupy part of the new office space.
