PILOT EVENTS: Liverpool takes part in events research
Liverpool's event calendar looks busier than it has done in a long while as the city plays host to a number of pilot events to test safety at mass gatherings.
This will play a vital role in helping provide the scientific evidence which will inform plans for reopening events later this year. The city was chosen due to it's track record of successful large scale events.
Liverpool is an event city. Events are a critical part of our economy, culture and community which is why the city was chosen to take part in the pilot events. Our experience as the pilot city for mass testing also means we have the knowledge and infrastructure in place to deliver complicated projects safely.
Areas which are heavily reliant on tourism, have been most affected by the pandemic with Liverpool seeing a six percent rise in universal credit claimants. Key industries such as tourism and hospitality are some of the most exposed to the crisis.
