GO AHEAD: Apartments plan going ahead
Plans for more than 50 homes in Wirral are going ahead, with millions being poured into the project.
Anwyl Partnerships has started work on 53 apartments in an ‘extra care’ or ‘assisted living’ scheme, under an agreement with Magenta Living.
The £8.5m project will see 45 one-bedroom flats and eight two-bedroom flats built just off Greenheys Road in Liscard.
Two existing buildings at the 1.2-acre site have been demolished to make way for the apartments, as well as car parking space.
Mike Nevitt, Anwyl Partnerships’ managing director, said: “It’s great to begin work on this brilliant scheme.
“There has been extensive planning and consultation during the development phase, identifying and recognising a real need within a specific area.
“There are no other similar older persons living developments within Wallasey and this scheme will provide a niche gap that sits between independent living and care home living.
“It’s great to once again partner with Magenta and help support them in delivering their wider house building aspirations throughout Wirral and beyond.”
Work is expected to go on for 19 months, meaning the project will be finished in early 2023.
Justine Gore, Magenta Living’s assistant director of development, said: “Greenheys Road is a very exciting development for Magenta Living as it’s our biggest extra care scheme to date in Wirral.
“With an ageing population in the area, this scheme will provide 53 much-needed apartments for local residents looking for independent living with care packages available.
“The development team at Magenta Living have worked tirelessly to bring this project to fruition and we are delighted to be working with Anwyl Partnerships, once again, to deliver this project.”
