Liverpool Council have confirmed the taxpayer bill for a damning government investigation into some of its practices is set to come in at £150,000. An inspection ordered by the government found a litany of failings in parts of the council's operations and resulted in Local Government Secretary Robert Jenrick sending commissioners to the city.
Just six people died of Covid-19 in the Liverpool City Region during the last week of March as the virus continued to retreat across the country. The weekly death toll, covering the seven days up to April 2, was the lowest recorded in the city region since mid-September 2020 and less than half the number seen in the previous week.
An independent market complete with artisan retail space is set to open next to the Woodside Ferry Terminal building in May. The market is a joint project by Woodside Area CIC, who developed the existing Woodside Ferry Village in 2019, and Independent Wirral, an organisation formed to support local businesses by Wirral Chamber of Commerce.
