Local leaders are delighted after Vauxhall's owners made a £100m commitment to its Ellesmere Port plant, safeguarding jobs at the site. Stellantis confirmed the huge investment where the company announced plans for its Cheshire hub to become its new centre for manufacturing electric vans.
Health Secretary Sajid Javid has announced that anyone aged under 18 who is a close contact of a positive Covid-19 case will no longer have to self-isolate. This will come into effect from August 16. This comes as thousands of children in the region have been self-isolating due to Covid-19 cases in their schools.
Three men who dumped household waste by the roadside in Knowsley have been ordered to pay hundreds of pounds after confessing to fly-tipping. One man dumped waste including a bed frame and broken pieces of wood in Tarbock Green in April last year. Two others were caught dumping a mattress and other items in Croxteth Lane last autumn.
