Joanne Anderson has been named as the new Mayor of Liverpool. No candidate had a majority in the first round, therefore second preferences of voters who picked candidates who didn't finish in the top two had to subsequently be counted. Ms Anderson received 46,493 votes.
A new restaurant could be opened on Bold Street under plans recently submitted to Liverpool Council. Proposals from Andrew Skeete would see the Smiffys fancy dress shop become a restaurant or bistro. Restaurants and bars there are benefitting from a closure of the road to traffic, allowing expanded space for restaurants to serve people outside.
An empty Liverpool city centre shop could be used as a performance venue under new proposals. The Royal Court Theatre has submitted an application to the city council to temporarily use a former shop on Williamson Square as a space to improve its youth program.
