TARGETED: Vandalism at Wild Shore New Brighton
A watersports centre in Wirral has been vandalised just weeks after it opened.
Wild Shore New Brighton, based at the town’s Marine Lake, opened on June 26 and features an aqua park, open water swimming, stand up paddle boards and rentable kayaks and pedalos.
This attraction was built after ADV New Brighton Ltd secured a 25-year lease on Marine Lake.
The company had planning permission for the project granted by Wirral Council last June.
But less than five weeks after it opened, the Wild Shore facility has been targeted by vandals.
A spokesperson for Wild Shore New Brighton said: “We have unfortunately experienced some vandalism and anti-social behaviour on site down here at Wild Shore New Brighton.
“It has been both during our operational days and later in the evenings when we are closed when we have experienced both the vandalism and anti-social behaviour.”
Although this has created problems for the company, the spokesperson said it is not considering closing down the operation.
The statement continued: “It has been exceptionally disheartening being a new business in the area.
“For the avoidance of doubt we have no plans to close our business.
“Instead we are working alongside the local council, coastal community group, police and youth groups in a bid to improve the situation.”
The watersports attraction remains open from 10am-8pm seven days a week and you can book in advance here (www.wildshorenewbrighton.co.uk).
The company recommends this as spaces fill up quickly.
