While the salaries for the jobs on offer currently vary hugely, there are a number with salaries in excess of £40,000

Liverpool has lots of jobs on offer at at the moment, with the highest number of job vacancies in the UK.

One of the places looking for a lot more staff is Liverpool Council.

With the local authority leading the city’s response to the pandemic and providing a range of other services, jobs in the council often provide people the chance to be actively involved in how people in our city get vital services.

While the salaries for the jobs on offer currently vary hugely, there are a number with salaries in excess of £40,000.

Here are some of the jobs, what experience you need to have, and when you need to apply by.

Assistant Solicitor

One of the roles the council is hiring for is an assistant solicitor post to cover maternity leave.

The advert promises you would work in a “dynamic and multi-disciplinary legal department” and help implement changes as the council reforms after the Caller Report.

The advert said: “The work will be fast paced and highly varied in nature.

“These posts present an attractive and challenging opportunity for highly motivated individuals to bring their enthusiasm to the team and to build on their experience. ”

The salary for the role is between £43,857 and £48,797 and applications must be in by November 3.

General Practice Surveyors

The council is also looking for surveyors to work with its property and asset management teams.

This department is another area where the government has demanded the council reform how it does things so the roles would see you working in an area that is undergoing changes.

Applicants need to be qualified surveyors and would undertake a wide range of work across the council.

The job advert said: “The successful applicants will be fully qualified members of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and will have a degree or formal qualification in a relevant field.

“In addition, they will have a track record of successful commercial property management in a professional property team taking care of all aspects of property transactions, lease management and valuations on a variety of property types.”

The salary for the role is between £43,857 and £48,797 and applications must be in by November 30.

Public Health Practicioner, ADDER

The council’s public health team has obviously been front and centre of Liverpool’s response to the coronavirus pandemic.

There have been a number of roles advertised in the team differently but this role would see you work on the ADDER programme.

The project, also called the Addiction, Diversion, Disruption and Enforcement Support and Treatment programme, looks to help those with drug addictions through recovery.

This post is fixed term for 24 months and would see you lead the programme.

As a result, experience in public health is required.

The salary for the role is between £43,857 and £48,797 and applications must be in by October 26.

Public Health Practicioner, Healthcare

The team is also hiring another public health practicioner to focus on healthcare.

This role would see you work with a number of other bodies, including the NHS, and provide public health advice and support to them.

The job advert said: “The post holder will support significant public health multiagency and multidisciplinary projects across the city. Examples of projects include health needs assessments, community projects, significant work relating to NHS, council and partnership services.”

The salary for the role is between £43,857 and £48,797 and applications must be in by October 26.

Programme Manager

If you have experience in IT you could apply for a job within a key team in the council.

In this role, you would be delivering a range of IT projects, a crucial task for a council of Liverpool’s size.

The job advert said: “ICT Projects and Programmes is a dynamic place to be, no two days are the same and the work is always interesting and varied.

“The goal is simply to provide the best possible service to the staff and Public of Liverpool City Council by implementing the most appropriate technology solutions for the City..”

The salary for the role is between £48,797 £54,080 and applications must be in by November 5.
