TWIST AND SHOUT: A busy couple of weeks for Strictly’s Janette Manrara
Strictly Come Dancing’s Janette Manrara has had a very busy couple of weeks.
Two weeks ago, Janette was announced as the new host of Strictly: It Takes Two - a spin off to the main show.
Janette replaces Zoe Ball, who stood down as presenter in May after a decade on the programme, and she shared the news with The One Show viewers this evening.
“It’s a dream come true to become part of the It Takes Two team! Although it’s impossible to fill in the shoes of a legend like Zoe Ball, I hope to make her and all of the Strictly fans proud. I will miss dancing on that iconic dance floor weekly, but forever grateful to continue being a part of the Strictly Come Dancing family!”
Eve Winstanley, Executive Producer, It Takes Two, says:
“We are so excited that Janette will be Cha Cha Cha-ing her way into the It Takes Two family. Her love and passion for all things dance will bring something new and fresh to the show.”
Alex McLeod, Commissioning Editor for BBC Daytime and Early Peak, says:
"We know that our viewers are avid fans of Strictly and cannot get enough expert advice, backstage gossip and dancing tips and tricks. I can't think of anyone better than Janette to do this. I am so excited that she is joining our It Takes Two family.”
The new role means that Janette will be leaving Strictly. New professional dancers for 2021 will be announced in due course.
Janette first joined Strictly in 2013 dancing with Julien MacDonald. She went on to partner with Jake Wood (2014), Peter Andre (2015), Melvin Odoom (2016), Aston Merrygold (2017), Dr Ranj Singh (2018), Will Bayley (2019) and last year (2020) with HRVY. She reached Week 10 twice, in 2017 and 2015.
It Takes Two is a BBC Studios production and the Executive Producer is Eve Winstanley. The Commissioning Editor for BBC Daytime & Early Peak is Alex McLeod.
Meanwhile, Janette has also released a podcast with her husband and fellow Strictly dancer, Aljaž Škorjanec.
The podcast, which released its first episode on Monday, won't only chart the pair's dancing success, but they'll also share insights into their married life.
The couple made their "casual announcement" in a hilarious video which saw them attempt to share their exciting news several times.
The first take was ruined after Aljaz accidentally forgot the announcement following a "long intro" while the second take saw them burst into laughter before they could reveal the news.
